What surprised me about Legends of Slots

September 13, 2026 · Markus Vogel

I almost skipped Legends of Slots. The name suggested something I wouldn't enjoy, but a reader kept asking us to look at it, so I installed it on a quiet Sunday and figured I'd give it twenty minutes.

Three hours later I understood the appeal. Underneath the spinning reels, it's really a collection game. Matching symbols fills meters that unlock new cartoon heroes, each with a short animated intro and a little joke of a backstory. I found myself chasing the next unlock the way you chase cards in a sticker album.

The controls couldn't be simpler — one spin button, a swipe to flip through your collection, and a neat panel of daily goals. That simplicity is a strength. It's the game I reach for while coffee brews, not one I sit down and commit to.

If I have a complaint, it's that the mid-game slows down once you've met most of the roster. But for something I expected to delete in an afternoon, Legends of Slots held on far longer than it had any right to.

My advice: don't judge it by the title. Treat it as a relaxed collect-a-thon and it delivers exactly that.
